I checked Laquinta on the TX side, I think the same place we were at where the pool was closed and it was $44/night plus tax.  So we have Laquinta and Ramada, any other suggestions,  what were ya'll impression of the Laquinta last year, other than the pool closed?

I think Dutch stated it well last year. I'll do cheap but I won't do dirty. My room was borderline on the dirty part of that qualifier. I prefer Holiday Inn Experss or Hamptons but the ones on the west side of Texarkana are expensive and I think out of range for a group stay. There is a new Best Western and HIE one exit east of stateline ave on the Ark side. Not sure what the prices are like but they are newer  and looked cleaner. Might be worth checking out.

Best western rate for the new one is $82.80  king and $91.80 two queen beds.                             Holiday inn Express rate is $81.00 King or 2 queen non smoking.

I agree with Ghost... I don't do dirty either. I'm working on something... hotels bidding on our business versus us searching them out. I'll let ya'll know what I come up with tomorrow.

I like the idea of Shreveport, LA that jwbice suggested. It is a few miles closer for me, and I love Casino's. It also wouldn't bother me to ride to Texarkana. Anything to  get out of this snow.........Any week-end is good...

Thanks for everyones input.
Cherry Boy, the rates for the casinos in Shreveport on the weekends is $175=$350/night.
I was unsure about where we stayed last time, but I guess it was the Laquinta and yes, it was old and semi-rundown.  I will see what Chickie come up with.

So far these are rates I have found and I am expecting calls for group rates.  These rates are military rates and I think the motels will honor it for all of us, these are all on the TX side and close to the Harley shop.  HI Express=$77, Comfort Suites=$69.95, Candlewood Suite=$77.00.
Laquinta on the AR side=$65.  What are ya'll max on room rates?

EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND THE TEXARKANA PRE-RUN WEEKEND.

5-6 Mar is the date, I posted motel rates above, are they acceptable with ya'll.  I am waiting for 2 calls from other motels about group rates.  So far this is who's come:  Gunslinger; Guzzler/wife; Casper; Mark Pickett; Ghost Rider; Sparky;  Night Train; Gunner/Betty Boop; Raven/Sapper; usafchickie Christine; Speedy/Pooh; Chrome; Pic; Cherry Boy; Cowboy; Le Chauffeur.   There is a posibility drmaggie will attend and DOC MAYBE.  I have not heard from  Mojo/John;  David Quinn and Reid Choate.  Cowboy, Flame and CJC said they could not make it, and they will be missed.  If ya'll know of any others please let me know.  I also need to know if any of you are sharing rooms so I can get a good room count.  Please let me know as soon as possible.  Let me know if the above room rates are acceptable.
Let me emphasize that EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND.
Le Chauffeur, Jere, jwbice@shreve.net
Update: Raven just notified me that they are bringing an FNG, Bodie, with them, welcome aboard Bodie.

JWBICE and ALL,

YES, count me in.  I will be going to Texarkana.  I talked to COWBOY and he cannot make it.  I will depart from the "Dennys" on the Northeast corner of I-30 and Broadway in Garland.  Thats exit 59.  Plan to depart about 11:00 Saturday March 5.
That will put us in TEXARKANA around check-in time.  If anyone wants to join me there you are more than welcome to do so.  All I need is a reservation at the designated motel.

It will be good to see everyone and clear my mind of issues once again before the Run.  This time of year is very stressful for me and I need this run to chill out.

I am thinking about the Comfort Suites, $69.95/night,  from the pics it looks like a very nice motel, has indoor pool and is close to stores and restaurants,  What are ya'lls thoughts? Is it OK? Too expensive?

This is for info purposes only, decision has not been made, I am waiting for your input.

Comfort Suites

215 Richill Drive, Texarkana, TX, US, 75503

  • Phone: (903) 223-0951
  • Fax: (903) 223-0729

You can go to their website and check it out, it is a non-smoking hotel, don't if it is state law or not.
