I have noticed several people on here with a nickname or road handle that raises the question on how they gotten that name.

So for anyone or for everyone that likes to share the story, please tell on how you came to acquire such a name.

For me I do not have a road name yet, gunslinger is a carry over from my CB handle. and even then was a carry over from a nickname I had while I was in high-school.

Short story of that was a girl gave it to me after reading The Dark Tower by Stephen King. I was her knight. A knight that the world has moved on without him. Ever since the name followed me.

Gunslinger,

" FIREBALL"  It was our call sign when I was a door gunner the last 3 months with the 199th LIB aviation group in Vietnam.  Each pilot had a number after the call sign so that he could be recognized...

Good morning Gunslinger, I got the name Ghost Rider in the summer of 2008 after a motorcycle wreck. Prior to that I had been Triple R or UFO.

I had a driver change lanes into mine and force me off of the road and up an embankment. I stayed with the bike until I brought it back over the curb and onto the pavement. The handlebars jerked hard right at that time and shattered my wrist causing me to lose control and get thrown off. The bike crossed the road twice and continued about 50 to 60 yards down the road staying upright the entire time. It finally hugged the curb and came to a stop laying over on the engine guard without hitting anything or anybody. Witnesses described it as looking like it had a Ghost Rider on it. A friend came and rode the bike to my house while I rode to the hospital. $3300 to the bike and $66,000 to me plus 3 months off of work.

one time at a camp ground--instead of goin up the road to the bathhouse-i cut up a narrow path to thru the woods. it was dark except for a lite that shined a lil ways down the path. i started up n seen two people coming down towards me , so i stepped back off the path to let them pass by. i had thought they had seen me but they didnt. as they passed by me they looked up into the shadows--n there i stood. 6'3 dressed all in black. startled them but good  n i apoligized n went on to the bathhouse. by the time i got back to camp--the story of the shadow startling them had been told. n , u can guess the rest. hence-the Shadow. lol.

"Redcatchers" was the name of the 199th Light Infantry Brigade that fought in Vietnam from 1966-1970 and came home under President Nixon's Phase V Withdrawl Plan.  All those who served with the 199th were "Redcatchers".  We also had 75th Rangers, Fireball Aviation, D Troop, 17th CAV to name a few.  I am honored to be a "Redcatcher."

It was just a brigade (Light/Seperate), but those who are also "Redcatchers" you may be familar with are: Slammer & Bill Blackman of RFTW fame, plus Jan Scruggs, Founder & CEO of the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial (The Wall) in Washington DC.

Mine is kinda obvious.  No big story.  Just a small dog with a huge desire for Harley Davidson motorcycles and the open road.  Today he turned 6 and is working on his 100,000+ miles on two wheels.

Gallupe.   That is what happens when you don't pronounce Gallup NM correctly when handed an open mike, in front of the riders, town folks,  Indian Royalty, and on live TV..... Dead

Got me a little shack at the mouth of a river in Costa Rica where I spend my winters (I'm from Wisconsin).  Can only get there by boat, it's remote.  The locals call me "Boca Jim".  Boca is Spanish for Mouth as in mouth of the river....not big mouth.
