Well now I'm envious, I was just going to stay out of it until I saw the patch.I know that Cowboy has the renegades, Cajun has the Cajun group I guess I'm going to have to find the other 4 or 5 of us here in the Great North West and have a raining day party. Man i wish i cloud join ya, but Shortstack and I will be thinking of ya on the 14th. Should be a great party right after the Marine Corp B-day and the Veterans day. Have fun

Oops- now I better make up more of those patches!  They'll be collectors' items!

I would hazard a guess that anyone who wants to fly in for the event would be welcome.  Maybe we could scrounge up some guest bikes?

OohRah HardCharger!
maybe Sidewalk can make a special patch for the "wish we were there" Hell's Kitchen supporters?
How about "I sent 20 bucks for beer at Hell's Kitchen-2010 and all I got was this patch"? FYI, everyone send Wish the 20 bucks.... (pssst Sidewalk, I'll split the beer with ya!) WinkLOL

GREAT job on the patch Sidewalk...I really like the way you blended the colors.  Now; you need to sell these patches instead of giving them away like you did 2010 RFTW.  Your generosity is appreciated, but let us at least cover the cost.$$$

You do great work... see you on the 14th!

You make me blush!  But the gentle hues of pink, red, orange and yellow are interesting...

I was an FNG in 2004, to say it was a life changing experience is an understatement. I have attempted, and not done well, in explaining the RFTW and the RFTW  family to my family and friends. I am hoping to bring some of my riding buddies, many who are veterans with me on the 14th, so they can experience a small taste of our RFTW family. I am not a veteran,  I  owe every veteran more than I can ever repay. I am honored to ride with each and every one of you. Thank you for letting me be part of this great family. Ride safe my brothers, see you on the 14th.

This ride and all that goes with it is a very big deal.  It is a long way across the country, an equally long ride getting home/ to Rancho.  Not everyone can afford the time and the expense of travel.  But for some it can be a "someday" dream kept alive by hanging out with those of us who have come to love it.

Bring your buds, and let's have a great time!

JW - Another excellent way to "share the experience" is to have your friends watch the one hour documentary "HOMECOMING - A Vietnam Vets Journey" available on DVD.  You can purchase it directly at www.homecoming.tv or email Eric Christiansen at hc@ecproductions.com

Film Maker/Producer Eric Christiansen traveled with CR-RFTW in 2000, capturing the emotional journey of 5 Vietnam veterans.  Two of these combat veterans were brothers that had served in Vietnam during the same time.  They joined together along the way to experience the Wall together.  A journey that leads them to their emotional, physical and spiritual homecoming.

There is another dual-pack DVD out there called "The Long Ride Home" a 5 hour documentary created in 2005 by Guerrilla Docs; produced by Randall Wilson.  You can contact them directly at www.guerrilladocs.com

Or just go to www.RFTW.org and view the video at no charge.

Look for me at Hell's Kitchen on 14 November and I'll share my photo's from my 2004 FNG journey.

JW...the RFTW website is www.rftw.org.

If there is anyone interested in flying in and renting a bike Quaid, HD in Temecula, CA (approx 30 min from Hells Kitchen) rents bikes. I know the rental manager pretty well and I could probably get us a discounted rate if there is anyone interested contact me and I'll see what I can work out.

Also...has there been any thought to doing a little ride as a group after we have lunch? The win country around Temecula east towards Julian is a pretty little ride. Others may know better routes then I (I just PCS'd to Camp Pendleton in Aug of this year). Anyway, I was just curious if there had been any thought to putting a 100 miles on the bikes after we fill out stomach's??!!!

I'm in, maybe down to Jullian for some apple pie? Long time since I have been down there, do not remember the exact route? FYI- We had mentioned using Nov 21st as an "emergency" alternate, do we still want to do that? If so I want to keep in open on my calendar.

I'm in for the ride to Julian, Phoenix, Kansas City, whatever.

As for the 14th, I'm thinking that in case of gushing rain, not likely for SoCal of course, that we could bump the date up to the 21st, that decision could be a concensus expressed here the day before.  I think we'll know if we need to do something like that.

I for one am really looking forward to this!!

I also noticed that the Colorado guys are doing something like this every month.  We may need to consider a few more lunch meetings as the days grind slowly down to May.

Thoughts?
