Unattended Motorcycle Security

Almost all the time your bike is just one of several hundred, and people are always around.  In 23 years I'm sure there are stories-- like last year when a bike went missing and it turned out to be some kind of re-po.

thanks for the input. I worry more about the return trip where it may be the only bike on the lot and was looking for something that would probably alert me and maybe give GPS coordinates if the bike is moved so a pretty high end security device. I hadn't looked at the HD device though and I will do that. Thanks. Any and all input is greatly appreciated as experience speaks volumes.

I ususally take a really roundabout road home to California and I'm by myself most of the time.  I've have no problems what so ever.  I use the H-D factory system, use a front disk lock, and lock my bags at night.

As noted above, usually not an issue on the run.

But the return trip is different.

FWIW, the only issue I've ever had in many years of riding around this country solo is little kids wanting to sit on my bike.  So, I just put a cover over it and that seems to have solved that problem.

We have gone to a few motorcycle rallys and a few dark hotel parking lots.  We have not had a problem yet.  My boyfriend has an HD and it comes with that keyfob kill switch and he locks his ignition and forks.  I have a Yamaha so I park mine (even thought I think mine is prettier ) angled behind him.  I figure they will go after the HD over mine (I know what a great girlfriend I am to sacrafice my bike).  I then lock my ignition and I have a pad lock that goes on my front forks.  We empty his bags and take our tool bags to our room with us.  We then resnap this bags (thieves are usually lazy).  We also try and park as close to the room as possible and some hotels will even allow you to park right in front of their entrance but talk to them 1st.

I really appreciate all the senior advice. I have traveled all around by myself on my HD and haven't had any problems either. I just think its time for a good alarm system but it sounds like our motors are safe at least for the ride to DC for sure.

Fallout, my wife doesn't ride so if she wants to come we will have to cage it. I might bring the hot rod; haven't decided.
