I pray not only for you and all our troops, but that there will be an end to all wars - and know this is a very naive view, but as a Vietnam era veteran, I can hope for it abd pray for the miracle. Stay safe my brother in arms.

Thank you all so very much....we said good-bye late last night to our first USMC Hero (KIA) since we've been here. It was a somber ceremony on the flight line as hundreds gathered to show our final respect to our brother who had given his last and final measure of sacrifice for his comrades and our country. I made all the Marines available attend to help keep them focused on what we are doing out here...I think it struck home with a lot of the young guys.

Tim,

You know I designated you my Marine on the Run last year since you were my tail gunner partner.  Stay safe, we are praying for all of you and will be anxiously waiting to welcome you home.
Sparky, SSIGS

Until they all come home.

OK, the mission is and important part of what we do, but it's because of what you and your FAMILY and others before you are doing over there. What little support we give is nothing in comparison to what y'all give and for what you might have to do! Please be safe and all of you come home! God Bless.......

***UPDATE***
Well we've been on the ground now almost a month and everyone is pretty much in the swing of things and doing very well. The situation on the ground here remains pretty stable despite what you mgiht hear in the media. All of the support from the RFTW family is very appreciated...almost daily I have someone coming up to me to thank me for getting them connected with the RFTW supporters...they love their packages and I think it really means something to them to know that they have this kind of support from folks they don't even know. Spirits remain high and everyday seems to bring with it new challenges, but that keeps things interesting and moving fast. As I am sure many have heard we will be getting smaller as we draw down in the coming months so that should prove interesting as well as challenging as the work load isn't going to shrink for my organization. The weather has been pretty good, except for the terrible sandstorm I believe HardCharger mentioned already. Living arrangements on the main FOBs is pretty good, but the outer locations remain pretty primintive. When we receive excess packages and goodies, I've been distributing to the outer locations via their SgtMaj's and 1stSgts. I know everyone back there is getting excited about the 2012 RFTW and rightly so. I will continue to follow the updates and new developments as May gets closer. Semper Fidelis....MGySgt "SixShooter" Gerdes
