CDR Reunion/Pre-run

 

I have had a couple of riders ask me about planned activities for Sunday morning. There are no official activities on Sunday for our unofficial gathering. Normally it is a time for breakfast, visiting and loading to depart.

 

I plan to poll the Dallas group on Saturday to see what timelines need to be considered for our departure for home. I anticipate that being around 10:30 - 11:00. THAT IS HIGHLY FLUID AND OPEN FOR DISCUSSION.

 

We will have some breaking off from our group as we near Dallas so I am only planning a rough outline for the return trip.

 

For the ones coming from other areas, make plans as needed for your trip.

 

The actvities planned for Saturday are:

 

Lunch on your own after arrival

 

 

15:00 Check into your rooms for those that have not, then a short ride to Barksdale AFB to visit the museum for those that want to go.

 

APPROX 18:00 Dinner. Currently I have heard from 20 of the approx 35 on the list. It looks like dinner will be at Outback Steakhouse. COST IS ON YOUR OWN! There are several other places in the area if you prefer something else.

 

After dinner there will be plenty of time to visit.

 

For those wanting to donate funds to the casinos, there are plenty within 3 miles that are very willing to accept you donations. There is not currently a group trip planned to the casinos.

 

If anyone has a burning desire to just give away money, I will gladly take any funds you wish to depart with and save you the cost of the fuel to drive to the casino. Unlike the casinos, I would tell you "thanks". They just expect you to donate.

 

Seriously, this is a time to meet new riders and visit with friends that we have made on prior runs. Several of us have friends and family in the area that we may want to visit with also. That is fine.

 

My only request is that you plan to attend the briefing early Saturday afternoon. Last year between a quarter and a third of the group were FNGs. I think all of them made part or all of the run last year and several are coming back this year. Papa went from being an FNG last year with plenty of questions to being a tailgunner for 7th platoon this year as well as bringing an FNG to this meeting. That is what this is about.

 

As we get a little closer I will give you a firm timeline for the Dallas departure and arrival.

 

Dutch and I will be co-facilitating the meeting.

 

Remember, this is a self funded, unofficial gathering. You are responsible for all fuel, meal and lodging costs.
