All DDD and CDR Riders,

We will depart Weatherford, Texas on Friday, May 11.  Departure time will be 0700 sharp.  Not 0701.  We will stage at the "Iron Skillet", 2001 Santa Fe Trail, Weatherford, Texas 76086.  Take exit 409 off of I-20.  The "Iron Skillet" is located on the Northeast Corner of I-20 and exit 409.  A motel is next door to the "Iron Skillet" should you want to stay there Thursday Night.  I will hold a 15 minute riders meeting at 0630.  At departure time tanks should be full and bladders empty.  We will break for coffee and breakfast in Thurber Texas.

We will overnight in Las Cruces, NM where “Cowboy” will take charge of the group.  We will probably eat at La Postas Friday Night and I am sure he will take the senic route to Phoenix as in past years.  We will overnight in Phoenix on Saturday and arrive in Rancho Sunday around 1300.   Hotels have not been determined for Las Cruces or Phoenix.  “Cowboy” will post appropriate motels for Las Cruces and Phoenix.

This will be a long day in the saddle, so safety is priority one.  Adjust your attitude accordingly.  There will be NO ATTITUDES - NO COMPLAINING.  This run should be considered a good practice run for RFTW 2012.  However, let me stress what "Ghost Rider" said:

"DDD and CDR ARE NOT AN OFFICIAL PART OF RUN FOR THE WALL. WE ARE A NON-SANCTIONED GROUP OF RIDERS WHO MAKE THE CHOICE TO RIDE TOGETHER TOWARD A COMMON GOAL OF ARRIVING IN CALIFORNIA SAFELY TO THEN PARTICIPATE IN RUN FOR THE WALL."

A closing inspiring thought to remember:

"Over the last 108 years in the saddle, we've seen wars, conflicts, depression, recession, resistance and revolutions.  We've watched a thousand hand-wringing pundits disappear in our rear view mirrors.  But every time we, and this country, have come out stronger than before.  Chrome and asphalt puts distance between you and whatever the world can throw at you.  Freedom and wind will outlast hard times, and the rumble of an engine drowns out all the bla, bla, bla on the evening news.  If 108 years have proven one thing, it's that fear sucks and it doesn't last long.  SO TO HECK WITH IT ALL .......... LET'S RIDE !!!!

If you have a problem with any of the above  …….. GET OVER IT !!

We will be waiting, I have a long ride to RC. I plan on leaving my house at 12:00, 1st fuel stop will be about 2 blocks, then on to the 1st rest stop (next offramp) for a quick smoke. Then I plan a hard ride for about 30 mins. to RC. Check into Hotel rest up for your arrival at around 1:30. Ride safe all.

I am thinking that you should ride East to meet the group halfway.

Mo-Jo and Wicked,

I will probably already be in Midland with Crosswind the day before so might be interested in hooking up with you to catch up with DDD and CDR.

None of my business really, as I will be waiting on the West Coast for all y'all to arrive.  But I will offer one thing if you want to pursue it.

I travel between San Diego and Dallas to see my grandkids fairly often, and since Las Cruces is half way, we motel there.  After being burned a couple times, we found a little place called the Royal Host motel, clean and inexpensive with a nice restaurant on the premises.  It's on the west end of town, you are on the 10 heading west first thing in the morning.

If anybody wants to check it out,

Freedom. It seems to frighten a lot of people, but I am sold on it.

LaiKhe67tc, Thanks for the info. Always looking for a good place in Las Cruces. I have a reservation at Americas Best Value, just down the street. I'll check out your suggestion when we get in there. Thanks.....ClapClap

I made reservations at the Hampton Inn in Las Cruses. They will be the host hotel going east and gave me the RFTW rate going west also. Just a thought for those going out.

Speedy, we got one day closer to springtime and it's already starting to gel. From the "A-TEAM" show I love it when a plan comes together.

She better be going. She is the APL for 3rd. SOMEONE has to keep Hardcharger in line. ShortStack has her hand full with chase truck. And yes, the ASB is installed along with ALD (Automatic Latching Devices) for the saddlebags.

NOW SPARKY .............. DON'T GET YOUR NICKERS IN A TWIST TO EARLY !!!  You still have Cowboy to deal with.  Not to mention Airborne, Hardcharger, Short Stack, Stonewall, NightTrain, Speedy and Pooh, Gunner, Betty Boop, Stoney, LightBulb, MoJo, Wicked, Raven and the rest of the Renegades.

Can we all take pictures this year when you slide, ......... er ah ......... land, I mean stop, at gas stations?  I have a high speed camera that can see thru blue smoke.  Just asking!

I prefer to think of it as a controlled sideways entry into our destination.
