RFTW Family,

I apologize for being off line for so long, but have been incredibly busy preparing to deploy in Feb '12 to Afghanistan for a year. The past several months have included a large garage/estate sale, followed by moving out of our home in Temecula, CA and into a 40ft 5th Wheel (I'll explain more later). Since Oct we have been full-timing in our RV around S. CA and AZ, and have now moved across country back to Louisiana to get the family settled next to the in-laws. The recently purchased 5th wheel will serve as temporary lodging for the family while I'm deployed and when I return we hope to full-time around the country for a couple months once I retire.

I say all this because I have one hitch in the whole works. I have a gorgeous 2 yr old tri-colored Australian Shepherd (neutered male) who can not stay in my in-laws home, nor do  feel right about just leaving him outside in a crate for a year. He is used to being an inside dog and this is the type of home I would like to find for him. He is used to other dogs, has excellent manners, is accustomed to children (as some know I have six, four at home) goes potty outside, is in excellent health (heart worm and flea free), and is a big help around the house picking up dropped items for you so you don't have to bend over. I would like to find him somewhere to stay either for the year or permanently, and preferably somewhere between S. CA and Louisiana so  I could drop him off. If someone is interested, I could bring him for a test stay as I am returning the CA on the 30th of Dec and will return to Louisiana the first part of Feb, just prior to deploying. If things didn't workout, I could pick him up and bring him back to Louisiana where he wouldn't be any worse off then he is now. If someone is interested feel free to contact me at my personal address usmcshepherd1@gmail.com and I'll send pics.

Lastly, I would like to thank publicly the RFTW BOD's for adopting my Marines for this upcoming deployment!

Chrome...don't worry about me...I'll be careful...this will be my 8th combat deployment in 22 years and according to the family my last! I will miss everyone in 2012, and you can be assured I'll be thinking of you all in May as you cross the country again. Lord willing I'll be with you all in 2013, on the 10th Anniversary of the invasion of Iraq...I'll just have to make getting a new bike a priority once I return:)!

SixShooter, I am thankful for you and all the other troops currently serving, THANK YOU!  You be safe!  We will miss you on the Run but look forward to seeing you in 2013.  Will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers while you are gone.  If you have access once deployed and in May don't forget you can follow us on Raven & Sapper face book page.  Enjpy your time before you go with the family and have a happy New Year!
IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO SAY WELCOME HOME!

Ride...you are welcome and I know the leadership team you ride with this next year will take just as good of care of you if not better! I will certainly have connectivity both voice and internet and will certainly be keeping up with the RFTW in 2012!

Sounds like you have found a place for your dog and it seems as though you have trained your dog well....

With that said - Can I send you my grand kids for your training, LOL...
