Hello !  Our first journey with Run For the Wall was this past May, 2011.  We are planning to join again in 2012.  We took an enormous amount of pictures and now are thinking of purchasing a Motorcycle Helmet Video Camera.  For those out there who have a helmet camera, what do you recommend?  Hints and tips on what to look for when purchasing?
Many thanks,
Kimmer and Bob

Thank you !   We are looking at the Contour models and the GroPro Hero 2 model.  We do not know anyone who actually has one, therefore reaching out to those who do.  Do you get a lot of "wind noise" when filming?

I have a GoPro and like it a lot. Only problem I have is that I have not purchased the LCD screen so I really can't see what I have recorded until I hook it up to a PC. But, the videos are great.

ok i did put on a wind sock and it works very well. almost all wind noise is gone,i like a little ,because it brings the video as if you are there,. i also found on the contour HD 1080 configerations you can ajust the leavels of the sound recordings,to do this you must have a computer to read the ajustments ,you want to make !. the video is very good ,i like the camera body design, bullet shape and little flat surface to catch the bugs and wind sands from the road to hit the lensThumbs Up Tongue.

Papa and 83riderpgr -

Thanks for the information.  We have seen both cameras in person now and are reading all kinds of online comparisons.  There are features on both cameras that we like.  Decisions, decisions!  Ugh !

I used a Contour GPS last year...  used a RAM mount and put it behind the windscreen...   no wind noise but there was some reflection of road paint (center lines, etc)..    only a minor annoyance really

be aware contour uses .MOV file format (verrrry large..  like hundreds of megs, so uploading at night is not practical)
I dont know what GoPro uses.

I just got a Contour HD ROAM for Christmas, how do you other Contour advocates mount yours? does the windshield mount suction provide enough stability and confidence that you can turn it on and forget about it? Or are you always worried it will succumb to the road vibrations?

I have a Hero 2 camera that I purchased in 2012. I've used it once in September 2012. I was offered a great deal on a Hero 3 that I just could not pass up. I have no need for two Hero cameras. New the cost was $299.99 plus sales tax that brought the total to $323.24. I'll take any offer over $250. Everything is still in the box. If interested email me at btorres41@cox.net or call me, Bob Torres, at 949-716-7676.

Kimmer,
I posted a few days ago about my Hero 2 camera. I failed to mention tha I also purchased a two year extended warranty. They will repair or replace the camera for any reason. They won't honor it if you lose the camera. The warranty is transferable to the new owners. If interested email me at btorres41@cox.net. Buyer will pay for shipping and handling.
